The Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN) celebrates the enactment of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act—landmark bipartisan legislation that addresses the nation’s deepening housing and affordability crisis. Stable, affordable housing is foundational to health at every stage of life, and health systems are uniquely positioned to understand that connection: research consistently shows that healthcare costs decline when people move into affordable housing, and those benefits compound over time. This legislation will unlock housing production, strengthen local economies, and support the long-term community stability that anchor institutions work to build.
HAN health system members demonstrated their commitment to this issue firsthand, holding over 100 meetings with congressional offices during HAN’s Policy Day 2026 in April. We are grateful to the members who made that advocacy possible, and to Enterprise Community Partners, the HOME Coalition, and the broader affordable housing community for their leadership and partnership on this legislation.
