HAN members are leveraging spending with existing suppliers in the communities they operate in to build community wealth through employee ownership.
Building Resiliency through Employee Ownership (BREO) is a three-year joint initiative with HAN and OBRAN Cooperative where HAN health system members aim to create better health and economic outcomes for local employees and their families. BREO participating systems are identifying existing vendors that could be converted from sole proprietor ownership to employee ownership, while simultaneously providing a real solution to supplier instability from the lack of succession planning and helping cultivate a pipeline of more diverse business owners. BREO is built upon the successful pilot that HAN member Kaiser Permanente established.
