On May 12th, HAN held its third Housing for Health Policy Day with the largest turn out yet for our annual event. We were joined by Sen. Todd Young, Rep. Jim McGovern and Rep. Dwight Evans, with a recorded message from Sen. Sherrod Brown. The Congressional members spoke about the importance of stable, affordable, and healthy housing, and how they are working to promote these policies. 46 HAN member health systems participated in the event and 28 health systems signed onto a Principles for Healthy and Affordable Housing that was shared with Congressional members. Together, these health systems represent more than 775 hospitals in 49 states. Marion McFadden, Senior VP for Public Policy with Enterprise Community Partners, spoke about the need and impact of the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, while Mike Koprowski, National Campaign Director of the Opportunity Starts at Home campaign, discussed Opportunity Vouchers. HAN members will continue to advocate for investments in housing throughout this pivotal Congressional session. |
