STRATEGY CONSULTANT
Sonia Sarkar is the Director for Social Homes and Health Equity at the P3 Lab. She has extensive experience in health equity and economic justice, with a particular focus on supporting BIPOC-led organizations and communities organizing for health and building infrastructure to enable community healing. She has advised numerous community-based, healthcare systems change, and financial institutions on racial and health equity, including the Healthcare Anchor Network.
Previously, she served as Baltimore City Health Department’s Chief Policy and Engagement Officer, where she led the design of the city’s Accountable Health Community and worked with community-based organizations, neighborhood associations, and advocacy coalitions to develop Healthy Baltimore 2020, a vision for addressing health inequities across the city. Prior to that, Sonia served as an advocate, program manager, and Chief of Staff/Special Advisor to Health Leads, a national organization focused on agitating the healthcare system to be directly responsive to the needs of patients.
She is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader, a Truman Scholar, and holds a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University as well as an MPH and DrPH from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Sonia is also a Social Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Common Future and a Shift Health Accelerator leadership team member, where she supports grassroots organizations looking to democratize healthcare and create accountability around healthcare spending.
