From the article: Craig Williams, president and CEO of Pride Enterprises general contractor, said his firm was hired as a construction manager by CHOP, with goals to spend at least 70% with diverse sub-contractors. But business enterprises with underrepresented owners can face challenges finding insurance and bonding coverage, so CHOP “relaxed the bonding requirements, so we could bring them to the table. If they didn’t do that, the spend would be 35%” diverse sub-contractors, Williams said. Instead, the project is now 90% diverse. |
