HAN member San Mateo County Health helped to spearhead the successful and unanimous adoption of a Resolution committing the County of San Mateo to the anchor institution framework and calling for the development of a plan for inclusive staffing, procurement, and investment to advance equity for the county.
From the the testimony in support of the Resolution by HAN’s President David Zuckerman:
By passing the resolution, San Mateo County is adopting a win-win framework in which as an employer, the county will create a pipeline of trained workers; as a purchaser, the county will make it so that small local and disadvantaged businesses can access business opportunities; and as a local government, your residents can become economically secure and build wealth. In addition, the county will be increasing its tax base by helping local businesses grow and residents become gainfully employed.
