HAN member ProMedica is partnering with Lenawee Community Foundation to provide $20 million over 10 years for the Adrian community. ProMedica states that this is one of the nation’s largest place-based commitments in a rural community. The funds are “dedicated to scaling and implementing solutions to address health disparities in East Adrian.” The initiative builds on the work and success of ProMedica’s Ebeid Neighborhood Promise, located in Toledo, Ohio and will support job training, housing, financial coaching, and other community services and resources.
From the article:
“This is all about addressing the social determinants of health and really working with the neighborhood and address the sort of issues that are necessary for them to live the kind of lives we all want to live,” Oostra said.
For now, east Adrian will be the focus. That’s where officials say they see the largest percentage of those living at or below the poverty level.
