HAN member Sentara Health is the founding partner of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s (LISC) Hampton Roads chapter. In 2019, Sentara contributed $10 million to launch LISC Hampton Roads, which provides essential funding to address pressing issues such as access to quality affordable housing and financial stability for families. Its programs are driving health and wellness in the region through funding ranging from small business support to innovative health and housing initiatives.
LISC Hampton Roads has provided $3.5 million in program grants, small grants, and sponsorships. Recent grants include $1 million for the Community Resilience Innovation Challenge to help underserved coastal communities and the Market Heights Apartments in Norfolk, VA, a 164-unit income restricted 100% affordable LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit) property.
