HAN affiliate member Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. (MHM): In 2024, MHM provided $181.1 million in funding to advance health equity, strengthen communities, and impact systemic change across its 74-county service area. Nearly $28 million of the MHM funds support approaches that address the root causes of poverty and health inequities, such as cross-sector partnerships, community infrastructure, policy/legislative action eliminating barriers and/or addressing the long-term needs of individuals, families and communities. Examples include:
- MHM commissioned a Study on Economic Mobility Strategies for San Antonio Communities
- $110,000 grant to support staffing, programming, and implementation of the San Antonio and Greater Bexar County Digital Equity Plan
- 6 community coalitions from South Texas selected for a learning collaborative focused on developing community-driven health equity strategies
