HAN’s President & Founder David Zuckerman spoke with Kathryn Lawler, CEO of Saint Joseph’s/Mercy Care (a part of HAN member Trinity Health), at the Georgia Health Policy Center’s 30th anniversary speaker series. They discussed how health systems can play a role building community wealth and inclusive economic development, including the McAuley Station project, a $50 million, 170 unit affordable housing complex.
From the discussion:
When we think about the intersection of health and housing, I’m thinking about one of our lived experience advisors [who] reminded us this week that even after you have struggled with housing and you have been unhoused for a period of your life, even when you are now housed and you have recovered from different health issues that you are facing, it doesn’t mean your health is absolutely perfect. And in fact, that intersection between health and housing can continue to be a challenge throughout your life. – Jeff Collins-Smythe, Executive Director of the Atlanta Regional Collaborative for Health Improvement (ARCHI)
